ARTWORK
Hand illustrated woodcut style hero characters commissioned by d-studio, for use on National Trust beer bottle label designs.
The process of creating the artwork involves sketching out the composition including working out the areas of shade and light, before inking the highlights in a woodcut style over the top. Effectively I'm working in reverse - creating positive artwork for what will ultimately be negative space. I work at a larger scale than the artwork will be reproduced at.
Once I'm happy with the hand drawn elements every part of the drawing is then recreated digitally as outlined vector artwork. This allows for the designer to resize and colour without losing any quality.
